A New Year...

By now the decorations are down, the glitter and pine needles have been swept up, the kids are back in school and the chaos of the past month is a fleeting memory.  However, if you live in my house...the decorations are mostly still up and realistically won't be completely down for another week or two, we will never be glitter-free (and really, we like it that way), the kids ARE back in school and there is new chaos on the horizon...and we like that as well!

The new year is so exciting, like a clean slate to start all over and dismiss all the junk from last year, cause that's so 2014!  I've already made and broken a couple of resolutions.  "Eat healthy" and "exercise everyday" sound great on paper, but are just not realistic in this household.  As we run from activity to activity, get homework and projects taken care of, keep the house in some sort of order and get to bed at a decent time, eating anything is considered a success and all the running around is marked in the 'exercise' category for sure!
We are going to generally try and be better people in this new year, more respectful and forgiving, volunteer in our community more and be happy and positive.  Going to try and put the positive out there so maybe the positive will return to us!  We are going to do a recap of the week on Friday's before movie night begins, AND we are going to implement a mandatory "Friday Night Dessert"!!  I feel like that is one resolution we can all get behind with some enthusiasm and will be able to succeed at with very little pushback!  Our thought behind it is...if we know there is something sweet on the horizon, perhaps we will just look forward to it with great anticipation and not eat a bunch of crap throughout the week.  That is the hope, I'll keep you updated on the reality!

We have already made a cute DIY to help keep us on track...

We ran out of slats or "have dessert on Friday" would have totally been on there :)
